“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”
Abraham Lincoln
In an increasingly globalised world, no nation can live in isolation or remain unaffected by events and problems in other countries. Therefore, it is important for our young generation to be aware of international issues and problems, to be sensitive to the viewpoints and concerns of other nations and to learn how differences can be resolved through dialogue rather than violence. It is critical that the young minds should be trained to imbibe the values of collective responsibility for the sake of global peace and understanding.
We are now in the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and non-violence for the Children of the World (2001-2010) which was declared by the UN General Assembly to further strengthen the global movement for a culture of peace.
In today's progressive world, the young learners must be able to understand the global economy and world issues, appreciate different cultures and perspectives and possess desirable skills for effective research, analysis and problem solving. With this above objective in mind, we set up the Club for International Understanding. Through various activities we wish to help our students understand the importance of dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect and encourage them to make the world a better place for tomorrow. Activities undertaken in the session 2006-07
