| Biotechnology is an exciting and rapidly expanding field. Biologists and other scientists working in R&D use Biotechnology techniques for the production of genetically engineered drugs, gene therapy, microbiology, virology, forensic sciences, agriculture and environmental sciences. Some of the recent inventions based on Biotechnological research are golden rice, B7 cotton etc.
Apeejay was amongst the first of the few schools in NOIDA to start the course in Biotechnology. Students at Apeejay in Biotech lab gain hands on technical skills in the areas to name a few; cell culture, media and reagent preparation, electrophoresis, ion exchange chromatography, protein purification, plasmid isolation, transformation.
Biotechnology lab has the necessary equipments recommended by CBSE such as centrifuge, spectrophotometer, colorimeter, laminar flow hood, BOD incubator, microwave, refrigerator and many more. In addition to these equipments, laboratory is equipped with high speed internet connection to enable students to do web based experiments such as exploring global databases.
Audio visual aids are extensively used to teach students. To enable this, the lab is equipped with a large screen television. Students have the choice to take Biotechnology with PCM and pursue career in Engineering either in traditional specializations like Electronics, Computers, Civil Engineering etc. or in the upcoming field of Biotechnology. |
