VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME

17 th October 2006 .

The Interactors of Apeejay School NOIDA visited the old age home (NOIDA sector 55) on 17 October 2006 . It was heartening to see the inmates of the Home leading a life full of enthusiasm and conducting themselves in a dignified way. They carry out their daily routine in an orderly manner. The way they manage their daily affairs, was a source of inspiration to all the Interactors .

The teacher incharge of the Interact Club Dr. N Upadhay along with Mrs.V.N. Uma and 50 other Interactors spent around three hours with the old people during which the interactors presented a short cultural program as well as interacted with the people there. The program included songs from old films which revived there memories and transmitted them to those good old days when they were young. It also presented a couple of bhajans and short skits a rajasthani folk dance and the self composed poem dedicated to the Jewels of our families. Every one enjoyed the programme thoroughly.

After the program the inmates appreciated the efforts and activites undertaken by the interact club of the school. The speeches made were indeed thought provoking. The program also included some fun filled games for the old people including ‘passing the parcel' and ‘antakshari' it was heartening to see their forthcomingness. One could only say “how talented they are?”

During the interactive session we learned that no matter how old they may be their spirits are always alive and high. These people are full of life, unmindful of the road of life which they have traveled. The hurdles and difficulties which they have faced during the lifetime do not dampen their sprits. These people have simply adjusted to the life and the surrounding with no grievance at all.

The office bearers also took an oath to continue the selfless spirit of interact club towards mankind and humanity and presented a check worth 5000 to the trust. while returning the interactors hugged and took the blessings of the old people which touched their hearts and brought a true smile on their faces. It was a very emotional moment when the interactors bade goodbye to the old people. All the interactors were more than happy to share their happiness with these people and left with a smile on their face which was not to fade soon!!!!!!

The program ended with a speech from Mrs. Mishra the secretary of Jan Kalian Trust. She motivated and encouraged the students to uphold the values and cherish the virtue of kindness, selflessness and care towards others.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

25 th November 2006

‘ It is said that god can be realized by redeeming one's responsibilities towards self, family, society and humanity at large'.

Guided by this philosophy the Interact Club of Apeejay School Noida is engaged in social welfare activities.25th November 2006 was one such occasion when a number of such activities were witnessed. The major one was a BLOOD DONATION CAMP from 8: 30 am to 1:30 pm organized in collaboration with Rotary Blood Bank. The first donor of the day was none other than our Principal Dr. Rajesh Hassija. There after the valiant parents came forward towards this noble cause. The turnout in the first hour was low but slowly it picked up momentum. More than 150 parents registered out of which 63 parents donated. The rest were fond medically unfit for various reasons but they were checked up and given expert advice so that in future camps they could be prospective donors. The enthusiasm of the donors was greatly appreciated.

The Interactors gave each donor a packet of biscuit and two bananas, in a beautifully newspaper bag with a thank you card-all made by them giving the message” Say NO to PLASTIC BAGS”.

No activity is possible without funds; hence the Interactors had organized a ‘Food Fest' in which our Interactors from classes VI, VII, VIII and IX brought with them, home –made delicacies, which would definitely tickle anyone's taste buds. They managed to raise a whooping Rs.19000 in one day .

The second fundraiser was a Greeting Card sale. Each greeting card was an exquisite work by our Interactors.Around2000 rupees were raised by selling almost 200 such cards.

Needless to say, these funds would be used for welfare activities that the club has planned for, in the coming year.

VISIT TO SLUMS

12 December 2006

“The prospect of thriving of the privileged is vast,

but of the destitute is very less.”

A trip to the slums on opened our eyes not only to the fact that survival is difficult but also how lucky we are!!

We, at Interact Club believe that service to mankind is service to god. With this motto, we carry out all our activities.

12 December 2006 was no different. Around 20 Interactors from class IX and XI visited the slums of sector 16 and spent some time with the people there.

It was indeed very amazing to see how these people carry out their day-to-day activities and lead their life. The interdependence on each other, the mutual understanding and the positive outlook of the people was indeed commendable!

At first, Interactors distributed clothes among small children, which was followed by the distribution of toys and candies. All the children were very excited and happy to receive the gifts. They expressed their gratitude with a true smile, which elevated everyone's heart.

After that the Interactors presented a short play ‘Shiksha Ka Mehatav', highlighting the importance of education and literacy in one's life. The people were able to get the message we and we can hope to see some more faces in our Adult Literacy Classes which we will be resuming shortly.

In the end, presented a talk expressing the need and importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene and health. Here the emphasis was laid on the fact “Health Is Wealth”. The overwhelming response of the people proved the trip to be a success.

It was an enriching experience for all the Interactors, which they will remember throughout their lives.
